Cindy Sparks

Earth Friendly Gardening

After retiring from a career in the Aerospace industry, Cindy and her husband moved to San Diego and fell in love with a fifty year old house in Point Loma. Cindy joined the San Diego Horticultural Society and served on their Board of Directors, first as a Member-at-Large, and then as the Publicity director for 5 years. She became a Master Gardener in 2006, and just two years ago trained in a statewide campaign to build a staff of trainers who could teach other Master Gardeners, and the public, in the new program for Sustainable Landscapes. Because the fifty-year old house had a fifty-year-old garden, Cindy found ample challenge in turning it around, plus she has used that as a lab for experimenting with Sustainability practices and learning how to use them effectively. Her garden will be featured this autumn when the San Diego Master Gardeners hold their first ever Fall Garden Tour and Marketplace on 1 October.
